Railroad: 15 to 50 feet or you fail

Rolling a track in a bus or placarded load is an auto-fail.

If your vehicle must stop at the railroad, you stop 15 to 50 feet from the nearest rail. Look. Listen. Don't shift on the crossing. Buses, school buses, hazmat — this is not optional. We run it in the on-road brief before DPS.
